Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach assisted by Artsteps to improve the science communication skills of third-grade students at SDN Bintara II. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The participants consisted of 57 students, including 27 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, normality and homogeneity tests, hypothesis testing, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the experimental class mean score increased from 43.85 to 48.88, representing an improvement of 5.03 points. In comparison, the control class mean score increased from 34.23 to 35.23, representing an improvement of 1.00 point. The experimental class achieved an average N-Gain of 0.428, categorized as moderate, while the control class achieved 0.225, categorized as low. These findings indicate that the STEM approach assisted by Artsteps provides a promising alternative for improving elementary students’ science communication skills in learning about life cycles.
