Abstract

This study aimed to develop ROOTS (Resilience Of Our Teens through Support), a resilience-strengthening model based on protective resources and Islamic spiritual values for students at MTsN 3 Cilacap. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from Sugiyono, involving problem identification, data collection, product design, expert validation, design revision, and limited trial. Data were collected through a resilience questionnaire involving 104 students, interviews with 11 students and one guidance and counseling teacher, one observation session involving 32 students, and a limited trial involving 10 students. The results showed that the students’ overall resilience score was 3.09 on a 1–4 scale and was categorized as high based on hypothetical norms. Spiritual coping (M=3.37) and family support (M=3.36) were the most prominent resources, while problem-solving (M=2.77) and emotional regulation (M=2.82) were relatively the lowest and categorized as moderate. The ROOTS model consists of four blocks: ROOTS Map, My Story, My Network, and My Plan, supported by a Facilitator Guidebook and ROOTS-ku Journal. All 10 participants completed the four blocks in approximately 85 minutes, and nine identified people they wanted to talk to more often. These findings indicate initial feasibility and acceptability, but do not establish causal effectiveness.
