Penerapan Teknik Object Writing Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Menulis Puisi Bebas Pada Siswa Kelas X DKV SMKS Cendekia Madiun

This study describes the application of the Object Writing technique and measures the improvement of free poetry writing skills among tenth-grade Visual Communication Design (DKV) students at SMKS Cendekia Madiun. It employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles, each comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were all 25 grade X DKV students (17 male and 8 female). Data were collected through free poetry writing tests, student activity observation sheets, and documentation. The results showed consistent improvement across cycles. The average free poetry writing score rose from 62.4 in the pre-cycle stage (32% classical completeness) to 71.6 in cycle I (60%) and 82.3 in cycle II (88%). Student activity and enthusiasm during learning also increased. It is concluded that the Object Writing technique is effective in improving free poetry writing skills of grade X DKV students because it encourages them to observe objects concretely before expressing them in figurative language.
