Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited adoption of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in learning at senior high schools in East Java, Indonesia, due to inadequate infrastructure, high device costs, limited teacher training, and uneven institutional support. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the acceptance of VR technology among senior high school teachers in East Java using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed, using purposive sampling to select 156 senior high school teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, and Social Influence have positive and significant effects on Behavioral Intention, whereas Facilitating Conditions does not have a significant effect on Behavioral Intention. Facilitating Conditions and Behavioral Intention are found to have positive and significant effects on Use Behavior. The moderation analysis shows that age, gender, experience, and voluntariness of use do not significantly moderate the relationships among the variables in the UTAUT model. The study concludes that perceived benefits, social influence, and the availability of supporting facilities are key factors encouraging senior high school teachers in East Java to accept and use VR technology in learning. Therefore, improving infrastructure, providing teacher training, and strengthening institutional support should be prioritized to facilitate the wider adoption of VR technology in education.
