The increasing demand for renewable energy encourages the utilization of biomass waste as a sustainable alternative energy source. Coconut shell briquettes have great potential due to their high calorific value, abundant raw material availability, and support for the implementation of a circular economy. This study aims to evaluate the environmental performance of community-based coconut shell briquette production at the Gawah Bonga Foundation, Central Lombok Regency, using a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach based on ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. The study was conducted with a cradle-to-gate system limit and a functional unit of 1 kg of ready-to-sell briquettes. The impact assessment focused on the Global Warming Potential (GWP100) category. The results showed total greenhouse gas emissions of 31.68 kg CO₂-eq per batch or 1.86 kg CO₂-eq/kg briquettes. Raw material transportation and product distribution were the main contributors to emissions (76.24%), while electricity use in the production process contributed 23.76%. A sensitivity analysis shows that the implementation of solar power plants (PLTS) can reduce the carbon footprint to 1.42 kg CO₂-eq/kg briquettes. These findings suggest that transportation efficiency and renewable energy utilization are key strategies for improving the environmental performance of the community-based briquette industry and supporting low-carbon development.
