Pengaruh Pengalaman PKL terhadap Kesiapan Kerja Siswa melalui Motivasi Kerja pada Kompetensi Keahlian Manajemen Perkantoran

This Study was motivated by the high rate of open unemployment among vocational high school (SMKN 1 Surabaya) graduates, who continue to account for the largest share compared to graduates of other educational levels. This situation suggests that the work readiness of vocational high school graduates is not yet optimal. Work readiness is important for vocational high school students because they are prepared to enter the workforce after graduation. Therefore, students need adequate practical experience and work motivation to support their transition from school to the world of work. It also indicates that internship experience (PKL) and work motivation are important factors in improving students’ work readiness. This study aims to analyze the effect of PKL on the work readiness of students at SMKN 1 Surabaya majoring in Office Management. The research method employed a quantitative approach, with data collected via a questionnaire administered to 103 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using path analysis with the aid of SPSS. The results show that PKL experience has a positive and significant effect on work readiness (t = 6.033; p = 0.000); PKL experience also has a positive and significant effect on work motivation (t = 9.823; p = 0.000); and work motivation has a positive and significant effect on work readiness (t = 8.557; p = 0.000). Furthermore, work motivation significantly mediates the effect of internship experience on students’ work readiness. It is concluded that internship experience and work motivation play an important role in improving the work readiness of vocational high school students. Therefore, schools, the business sector, and the industrial sector need to continue improving the quality of internship programs and provide support to enhance work motivation.
