Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of students' scientific thinking skills, particularly in observing, conducting experiments, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions. The purpose of this study was to improve the scientific thinking skills of fourth-grade students at MI Islamiyah Simorejo through the implementation of waterwheel miniature learning media in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 21 for  Grade 4  Elementary School Students of MI Islamiyah Simorejo. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation.The results of the study indicated that the implementation of the waterwheel miniature learning media successfully improved students' scientific thinking skills and was categorized as "Very Good." This was evidenced by the results of each cycle: (1) In Cycle I, the average student test score was 79.86, with a learning mastery percentage of 57%, indicating that 12 out of 21 students achieved mastery learning. (2) In Cycle II, the average test score increased to 90.95, with 20 out of 21 students achieving mastery learning, while only one student had not yet met the minimum mastery criterion. Therefore, the overall classical learning mastery reached 95%. It can be concluded that the implementation of the waterwheel miniature learning media effectively improved the scientific thinking skills of fourth-grade students in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning at MI Islamiyah Simorejo.
