The contextual approach is an instructional strategy that connects academic content with real-life situations to strengthen students’ cognitive retention and enhance the practical relevance of learning. This study aims to examine the implementation of contextual learning strategies, assess their impact on students’ learning outcomes in Basic Electronics at SMKN 5 Makassar, and identify problems encountered throughout the instructional process. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a [research design]. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, questionnaires, and observation guidelines. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including a mean comparison test. The findings confirm that the implementation of contextual learning had a positive impact on improving students’ learning achievement, as reflected in the higher final scores obtained by the experimental group compared with the control group. The findings further indicate that although the contextual learning model was effective in promoting active student engagement and strengthening conceptual understanding, its implementation in the classroom was constrained by limited instructional time, varying levels of students’ academic readiness, and inadequate laboratory facilities. Therefore, it can be concluded that the contextual learning model is effective in improving students’ competencies in Basic Electronics. Educators are consequently encouraged to develop more effective classroom management strategies supported by adequate learning facilities.
